Olympics 2018: Biathlete Doll wins Olympic bronze in pursuit of Fourcade victory

Sprint World Champion Benedikt Doll won the bronze medal at the winter games in Pyeongchang in the sovereign triumph of the Frenchman Martin Fourcade and gave the German biathletes the fourth medal after three gold medals.

The 27-year-old from Breitnau had a gap of 15.1 seconds to Fourcade after 12.5 kilometres and only one error with four shooting inserts, which was thus victorious in Sochi as in 2014. Silver went to Sebastian Samuelsson (+12.0) from Sweden.

Sprint Olympic gold medallist Arnd Peiffer was still in the fight for gold until the fourth shooting, but finally had to settle for eighth place after three tickets. His team mate Simon Schempp was even better in fifth place with three misses as well. Erik Lesser, who was decorated with two silver medals in Sochi four years ago, finished eleventh after two rivets at the shooting range.
