NBA: Mitchell sinks the Spurs – Warriors coach themselves

The Utah Jazz remain the hottest team in the league, also win against the Spurs and extend their winning streak to 10 games. The Golden State Warriors coach themselves and win easily. The Detroit pistons are weakening again, while the direct competition from Philadelphia is fulfilling its compulsory task.

It brings disillusionment to Detroit. After five victories in a row, it went out of business for the third time in a row, with the pistons scoring 118 points for the second time in a row,”said coach Stan Van Gundy with disappointment. We were bad at transition, we were never in a good position, and we just weren’t tough enough to win.”

Van Gundy thus also touched on the most important points of the game. The Pelicans dominated the zone with Anthony Davis (38 points, 10 rebounds) and scored 54 points for Detroit (Pistons: 38). The Pels generated 16 points in the Fast Break. For the first time, the guests were able to take off in the second quarter, when A. D. scored 10 points and thus contributed to the double-digit lead.

Nikola Mirotic (21.12 boards) came from the bank this time and scored 13 points for Detroit in the third quarter. Jrue Holiday (21,12 Assists) also played well. Blake Griffin was the best scorer of the pistons with 22 points, Andre Drummond supported him with 13 points and 21 rebounds. But he also found no means to stop the hot Davis.

“I didn’t give him any easy baskets, but he’s just a fantastic player and he hit his well defended jumpers and threesomes.

And another interesting side note. Emeka Okafor, who currently has a ten-day contract with the Pels, started in the NBA for the first time since the 2012/13 season, scoring a solid 8 points and 7 rebounds in just under 14 minutes.

While the pistons weakened again, the Sixers clinched their fourth victory in a row and now have three victories ahead of the ninth place. Man of the day was another this time: T. J. McConnell scored the first triple double of his NBA career with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals. Joel[Embiid] didn’t let go,”McConnell laughed after the game.” It was terrific and says a lot about our group.”

The game had already been decided long ago. Philly got off to a good start and, thanks to the equally strong Dario Saric (24.8/12 FG), quickly took a comfortable lead, but then let it slip a bit. Three minutes before the end of the third quarter, the Knicks equalled by a jumper of Enes Kanter (17,13 Rebounds), but afterwards only the Sixers played, who didn’t even go back in the complete 48 minutes.

Marco Belinelli, who was recently hired by the buyout market, hadn’t played yet, but the sixers were so dangerous from outside and scuttled 52.6 percent (10/19) of their threesomes. All starters also scored double-digit points, including Embiid (17) and Rookie Ben Simmons (13.6 rebounds, 6 assists).

Emmanuel Mudiay couldn’t tie in with his strong debut at the Knicks and only managed to reach 7 points in 19 minutes. Top scorer of the guests was Michael Beasley with 22 points, in addition marked Courtney Lee 18 points coming from the bank. Tim Hardaway Jr. (9) had another big problem with his litter (4/16 FG) and shot 8 tickets from the three-line.

Mandatory task accomplished. The Clippers didn’t give each other a hard time in Brooklyn and clinched their seventh win in the last nine games. This was never at any time endangered, as the guests started furiously and nailed 15 of the first 21 litters into the basket. With a similar pace it went on and so the Clippers had already scored 90 points after three quarters and in the meantime gained a lead of 23 points.

“I think many people underestimate us, but we’re getting better with these new games,”Austin Rivers said. The coach’s son hung up 17 points and was only topped by Lou Williams (20). A total of seven players scored at least 10 points, including Tobias Harris (10) and Avery Bradley (11), who were acquired in the Griffin trade.

The Clippers took only 16 threesomes and scuttled six of them, but they caused considerable damage in the zone (60 points). We couldn’t stop them,”said Nets coach Kenny Atkinson,” but we knew we had to keep them out of the basket, but we never made it. That was the story of the game.”

The Nets had to do without Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (Leiste) and Caris LeVert (Knie), who will be back on the team after the All-Star Break. Joe Harris and D’ Angelo Russell each played 16 points for Brooklyn, with DeMarre Carroll (12.5/15 FG, 10 rebounds) scoring a double double.
