Olympia 2018: Peiffer still critical:”Find gigantism wrong”

Biathlete Arnd Peiffer may have experienced the biggest moment of his career with the sprint victory at the winter games in Pyeongchang, but the 30-year-old is still critically following the Olympic development,”I find this gigantism wrong. Less would sometimes be more, one should pay attention to environmental protection and destroy less nature”, said Peiffer after the medal ceremony on Tuesday.

Peiffer questioned sustainability and called for the games to be “less pompous”. This was not the first time he had made public criticism, he had already criticized the various restrictions during the Olympic Games before leaving for South Korea.

“You can’t say that or post that. On the outbound flight, you have to put these things on and make dozens of applications if a sponsor posts anything related to your name,”he said. As far as development is concerned, he said on NDR radio:”People have moved away from the very core of the Olympics. The myth of Olympia has lost a lot of its population.”
