Olympia 2018: Snowboard: US-American Kim wins gold in halfpipe

Snowboard prodigy Chloe Kim has lived up to her favourite status and won the gold medal in the Olympic halfpipe competition. The 17 year old US-American scored the outstanding best score of 98.25 points in her last of three races at Bokwang Snow Park, but she had not been able to take the Olympic victory before.

The silver medal went to the Chinese Jiayu Liu with 89.75 points, bronze went to former world champion Arielle Gold (USA/85.75). German snowboarders did not qualify for the competition.

Kim had already dominated the competition in the qualifiers and, with her Olympic victory, will succeed her compatriot Kaitlyn Farrington, who triumphed in Sochi four years ago.
