Olympic Games 2018: Canadian curler wins gold at mixed doubles premiere

Canada’s curlers have been awarded the 23. Winter Games won the gold medal at the Olympic premiere of the Mixed Doubles competition. Kaitlyn Lawes/John Morris beat Jenny Perret/Martin Rios from Switzerland 10:3 in the final on Tuesday.

Anastassija Brysgalowa/Alexander Kruschelnizki had secured bronze for the Olympic athletes from Russia with an 8:4 against the Norwegian Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten.

German athletes were not represented in Pyeongchang for the first time since the resumption of Curling in 1998. Julia Meißner and Andy Büttner did not qualify for the mixed doubles competition. The men and women around the skips Alexander Baumann and Daniela Jentsch also clearly failed in the qualification.
