NFL: Seahawks: Kam Chancellor wants to continue his career

The Seattle Seahawks may be defensively facing a major upheaval. Richard Sherman returns after his Achilles tendon rupture and Michael Bennett could leave the team, while Cliff Avril and Kam Chancellor may end their career prematurely after severe injuries. At least Chancellor has other plans, however.

This is reported by NFL network insider Ian Rapoport. Chancellor is scheduled to play in 2018 if the doctors give him the green light. The 29-year-old is still under contract with the Seahawks up to and including 2020.

Chancellor missed most of last season’s season due to a neck injury. Seahawk coach Pete Carroll caused a stir at the beginning of January when he announced that both Chancellor and Avril “will have a hard time playing again”.

Cornerback Richard Sherman, on the other hand, recently affirmed that, contrary to all speculation about his departure, he still sees his future in Seattle:”There is no doubt in my mind. We will try to get everything back on track, get well and then try to attack again. Hopefully everyone will get fit. I hope Kam (Chancellor) can play and everything works out for him the way it has to. But there’s no question:”The squad will look different.”

In the event of resignation, Chancellor would jeopardise contractual guarantees of $12 million. His salary for 2018 (6.8 million dollars) was paid on the 9th day. February guaranteed.
