Norbert Loch, the national luge trainer, has sparked a discussion about the salaries of the coaches:”I believe that the DOSB has to think about what happens next,”said Felix Loch, the father of the overall World Cup winner, during the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, in the direction of the German Olympic Sports Federation.
“We certainly do not want to bring football salaries into play, but this issue must also be on the agenda somewhere. “Because it can’t be possible for good coaches to leave us all the time.”
In his speech, Loch mentioned the German luge coaches Rene Friedl (Austria), Wolfgang Staudinger and Bernhard Glass (both Canada), all of whom work abroad,”Our trainer training is excellent. This is an essential part of our success in the German team. And it shows that we are in demand,”the 55-year-old continued.
At the Olympics in Pyeongchang the big favourite Felix Loch (Berchtesgaden) missed gold in fifth place on Monday due to a mistake in the last run. But Johannes Ludwig (Oberhof) won bronze, Natalie Geisenberger (Miesbach) won her second gold medal on Tuesday.
