Olympic Games 2018: Ter Mors wins fifth speed skating gold medal for the Netherlands

Jorien ter Mors continued the dominance of Dutch speed skaters at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

The 1500 m Olympic champion of Sochi in 2014 won the 1000 m race in Gangneung Oval ahead of the Japanese women Nao Kodaira and Miho Takagi and won the fifth gold medal in the fifth race for Oranje.

Gabriele Hirschbichler (Inzell) was the best German 15th and Judith Dannhauer (Erfurt) finished 26th. Michelle Uhrig (Berlin) finished 31st in her Olympic debut. and last place. She had cancelled her start at the 1500 m race on Monday because of a cold.

Prior to ter Mors, their compatriots Kjeld Nuis and Ireen Wüst had won gold in Pyeongchang over 1500 m, Carlijn Achtereekte over 3000 m and Sven Kramer over 5000 m. In addition, they won gold medals in Pyeongchang.
