Olympic Games 2018: Italian Moioli wins gold in snowboardcrossing

The Italian Michaela Moioli triumphed in snowboardcross at the winter games in Pyeongchang/South Korea. The 22-year-old won the final, ahead of Julia Perreira de Sousa Mabileau from France and Czech Eva Samkova, gold medallist of Sochi in 2014.

“Words fail me. This is the best day of my life,”Moioli said:”I cried when I crossed the finish line. I thank my family, team and friends.”

World champion Lindsey Jacobellis (USA) came out empty-handed in fifth place. Their biggest success remains silver from the 2006 games in Turin. Jana Fischer (Bräunlingen) was the only German starter to have failed in the quarter-finals.
