After LeBron James and Kevin Durant released a video on Thursday in which they openly criticized US President Donald Trump, James was attacked in particular by Fox News staff member Laura Ingraham.
Ingraham had said that James should “keep his political comments to himself” and was unqualified to express his opinion because he had “dropped out of high school” – although James had actually graduated.”Shut up and dribble”was Ingraham’s “conclusion”.
On Saturday night, James made a statement on this subject via social media with the slogan:”I am more than an athlete”, which is also featured on the office of James’ media platform UNINTERRUPTED in Los Angeles, where the video with Durant was also published. He wrote:”We won’t shut up and dribble.”
Durant commented on Ingraham’s statements to USA Today and described them as “racist”. But since then he hasn’t talked to James about it:”We can’t focus on that kind of thing,”Durant explained,”Life is bigger than a person’s opinion or ignorant commentary. It’s what it is.”
About Ingraham, KD said:”I almost feel sorry for her because she doesn’t realize what it means to be free. James himself hasn’t said anything about it yet, but there will be several media events on Saturday as part of the All-Star Weekend, where the superstar is expected to make a statement.
