Olympia 2018: Bach praises German achievements:”Really indescribable”

IOC President Thomas Bach has expressly praised the German team’s achievements to date at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

“Congratulations. No one could have hoped for such a start. Chapeau to all athletes! Collecting so many medals in the first week, nine of them gold, is really indescribable,”said the former head of the German Olympic Sports Federation on Saturday during his visit to the German House.

The German team could be “tremendously proud of what has already been achieved,” said Bach, who was promoted to President of the International Olympic Committee in 2013:”But as I know the DOSB, he wants to do more in the second week, so that things continue like this.

In addition, Bach thanked the German athletes “for the many special moments that the many German medals have brought to these games and made them such a success”.

Bach specifically mentioned sledgeman Felix Loch, who had lost his Olympic gold medal in the last run, saying:”I visited him in the cabin a few minutes later, after this mistake had happened,” Bach said:”The way he reacted and coped with it, and to see him wearing the sled of his teammates a few days later – that’s Olympia, how it is going to be.
