Olympia 2018: Ice hockey: South Korea’s first hit – 0:8 against Switzerland

South Korea hosted the Olympic Ice Hockey Tournament in Pyeongchang, South Korea’s first hard hit.

The team, which was strengthened by seven naturalised North Americans, lost 0:8 (0:1,0:2,0:5) in its second game of Switzerland’s preliminary round. Canadian goalkeeper Matt Dalton, with a respectable 1-2 defeat to the Czech Republic in the opening match, was replaced by a 5th goal 15 minutes from time.

The leader of the standings in Group A is the Czech Republic after two matchdays. The twelve-time World Champion defeated record Olympic champion Canada 3-2 (1-2,1-0,0-0,0-0,0-0,1-0) after penalty-shooting and has the best chances of winning the group and making it to the quarter-finals before the last preliminary round game on Sunday (16.40 hrs in LIVETICKER) against Switzerland.

Pius Suter was the most successful marksman in Switzerland with three goals. Jan Kovar scored a decisive penalty for the Czechs.
