Cycling: Tour of the Algarve: Seventh place at Kwiatkowski’s victory

Berlin professional cyclist Simon Geschke finished the Algarve tour in a remarkable seventh place.

After a wavy 173.5 kilometres, the Team Sunweb rider crossed the finish line in Malhao 17 seconds after Polish one-day winner Michal Kwiatkowski, who snatched the overall victory from his Sky team colleague Geraint Thomas (Great Britain) by winning the final stage. Kwiatkowski won the five-day tour for the second time after 2014.

Four-time time trial world champion Tony Martin (Cottbus/Katjuscha-Alpecin) was 15th on Sunday, 1:31 minutes behind. and improved to 28th in the final standings. Rank. As the best German in the overall ranking, Maximilian Schachmann from Berlin took seventh place. The Quick-Step-Floors pro came to Malhao in 25th place. with a 1:50 minute gap to the finish line. John Degenkolb (Gera/Trek-Segafredo) crossed only more than ten minutes after Kwiatkowski than 118. the finish line.
