The long-time German national ice hockey player Daniel Kreutzer has celebrated an emotional career farewell at the time-honored Brehmstraße in Düsseldorf, Germany, where “it’s not easy for me to find words at this moment,”said the 38-year-old, who finished more than 1000 games in the DEL as the third player.
In front of 9,000 fans in the former ice stadium of the Düsseldorf EC, two teams, made up of friends and companions in Kreutzers career, met on Saturday. DEG legends such as Dieter Hegen, Peter John Lee and Chris Valentine were also present at the cheerful 7:7,”You gave me an incredible day. You have revived the venerable Brehmstraße again,”said Kreutzer.
The wing forward had finished his career in 2017, after more than 15 years in DEG’s jersey. Kreutzer was also active for the district lions Oberhausen and Kassel Huskies. The tireless fighter for the national team played 201 international games, represented the DEB at two Olympic Games and twelve world championships. His number 23 is no longer assigned by DEG.
