Basketball: Master Bamberg and Trinchieri go their separate ways

Brose Bamberg and trainer Andrea Trinchieri are now going their separate ways. This was announced in a short press release on Monday by the crisis-stricken serial champion, who threatens to miss the play-offs as the tenth in the standings.

“Andrea Trinchieri has done a lot for Bamberg basketball over the last three years. After a bad year in 2014, he has put us back on the road to success. We are very grateful to him for this”, said Bamberg’s Managing Director Rolf Beyer. The previous assistant trainer Ilias Kantzouris will be in charge of the training until further notice.

Trinchieri had already said goodbye via Twitter before,”It was a good run. Thank you very much to all who made this all come true, good luck! Bye…”, wrote the 49 year old Italian.

Bamberg had signed the coach for the 2014/2015 season and celebrated three consecutive championship titles with Trinchieri. However, Bamberg had only won three out of the last 15 games and threatens to miss the play-offs for the first time in 17 years. After a shoulder operation in January, Trinchieri had to give up the training management for several weeks.
