Olympia 2018: Fessel makes her comeback in the team sprint

The German hopeful Nicole Fessel is about to make her first start at the cross-country skiing competitions of the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

The 34-year-old Oberstdorfer, who had dropped out in the first races due to breathing problems, was nominated together with Sandra Ringwald for the team sprint on Wednesday (9 a. m. CET in the LIVETICKER) together with Sandra Ringwald. This was announced by DSV.

As expected, Thomas Bing (Dermbach) and Sebastian Eisenlauer (Sonthofen) form the German team sprint duo for the men. The races, in which every starter has to run three laps alternately with his partner, are the last realistic chance for the German team to have to travel home without a medal, not least in 1998.

Without Fessel, Germany’s best distance runner in recent years, the DSV Relay Team had only finished sixth on Saturday. At the 2017 World Cup Fessel and Stefanie Böhler were sixth in the team sprint, but at that time the race was held in classic style. In Pyeongchang, on the other hand, skating is preferred as if by Fessel.
