Olympia 2018: Snowboard-Cross: Markus Schairer operates successfully

Snowboard-crosser Markus Schairer has been operated after his heavy fall at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. As the ÖSV announced on Monday, the procedure at LKH Feldkirch went very well. The lower cervical spine has been stabilized. According to a report, Schairer will continue to receive medical care in the hospital until next week.

The man from Vorarlberg suffered a fracture of the fifth cervical vertebra last Thursday in the quarter-finals of the Olympic competition. On Saturday Schairer was flown back to Austria from South Korea with a medical attendant.

As the ÖSV further announced, Schairer will not give any interviews until further notice. The press office of the Feldkirch LKH will also not provide any information about his health status.
