Handball: End of the season for Guardiola – Rhein-Neckar Löwen long without defending boss

The German champion Rhein-Neckar Löwen has to give up the Spanish defensive chef Gedeon Guardiola at least for the rest of the season. The 33-year-old circular runner suffered a tendon tearing in the large pectoral muscle during training and will be absent from the club for several months.

“His failure has hit us hard. For us, this is a big setback in the fight for our sporting goals and a huge weakening for our inner block, which was actually our showpiece,”said Oliver Roggisch, sporting director of the lions.

“We will try to fill the gap with the existing staff, even though we know that we can’t actually replace Gedeon,”Roggisch added.
