Olympia 2018: Ice Hockey: Olympic Games for Akdag finished

For Sinan Akdag, the Olympic Games of Pyeongchang have ended prematurely.

The defender from Mannheim, who had received a check against Norway in his 2-1 win in the preliminary round against Norway, travels home on Wednesday. This was announced by national coach Marco Sturm on Tuesday evening after a 2-1 win after extra time in the play-off against Switzerland.

It remains to be seen whether DEL-record goal scorer Patrick Reimer will be able to take part in the quarter-finals on Wednesday (13.10 hrs in the LIVETICKER) against World Champion Sweden. The man from Nuremberg was missing due to a training injury in the past two games. He’s scheduled to do a stress test on the ice on Wednesday morning.
