Russian curler Alexander Kruschelnizki is said to have been tested twice during the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. The French news agency AFP reported, citing an unnamed source involved in the proceedings against Kruschelnizki, that the curler had been positively tested for meldonium on two days in a row.
In the case of two positive tests on consecutive days, both violations will be considered as one.
The case was still not officially on Tuesday. The CAS had only announced on Monday that it was investigating the Russian.
Russian media had reported that Kruschelnizki had been positively tested in A and B samples for the forbidden cardiac drug Meldonium.
Obviously, there has still not been a mandatory doping hearing of the suspected athlete.
Russian curling association chairman Dimitri Svishchev was quoted in the local media as saying that he will travel to Seoul for a trial on Thursday.
On Saturday, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee will meet to discuss a possible suspension of the Russian NOK before the closing ceremony on Sunday.
The IOC has so far failed to provide an answer to the question of whether the Kruschelnizki case might be an exclusion criterion in this context. An IOC commission chaired by Executive Member Nicole Hoevertsz monitors the “Olympic Athletes from Russia” in Pyeongchang and is to provide the Executive Board with a recommendation for action.
