Olympic Games: Ice hockey pro Wojnow: In the U. S. condemned at Olympia on the ice

Locked in the NHL, sentenced in the USA, but on the ice at the Olympics: Russian international Slawa Wojnow provokes irritation in Pyeongchang. The former Stanley Cup winner with the Los Angeles Kings had beaten his wife to hospital maturity in 2014, had subsequently been withdrawn from circulation by the League and sentenced to 90 days in prison by a judge for domestic violence.

However, the 28-year-old is still allowed to play in the team of Olympic athletes from Russia. He is “entitled to play in all international competitions”, the Russian Federation announced on Tuesday and added:”Mr. Wojnow and his wife live in a happy marriage.

The World Ice Hockey Federation IIHF also announced that Wojnow could not be banned for violations outside of hockey. If he were still playing in the NHL, the IIHF would have taken over the suspension of the league. The defender, who has been in Russia’s KHL since 2015 for SKA St. Petersburg, does not express itself in Pyeongchang itself.
