Combiner Eric Frenzel has ruled out a career end for the time being after winning two more gold medals. Whether the 29-year-old will continue until the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing is still open.
“I’m making this dependent on how it works. We’ll see if it’s going to be another four years,”said the five-time overall World Cup winner on Thursday in Pyeongchang.
Frenzel had become a father for the third time in June 2017,”My wife is fully behind me. As long as everything works, she says: keep going, enjoy it,”he said. If my level is sufficient to be able to keep up in four years’ time, it would be terrific. But if you don’t, you don’t. Then I have no problem saying it’s over,”said Frenzel.
The future of Björn Kircheisen is still open:”The church is considering whether to stop. It’s always going back and forth, sometimes he wants to continue, sometimes he doesn’t,”said national coach Hermann Weinbuch. The 34-year-old Kirchisen had experienced his fifth winter games in Pyeongchang, but had not gone beyond the role of a replacement in all three decisions.
