Olympia 2018: Gisin winner in the alpine combination – Vonn out

The Swiss Michelle Gisin has won four years after the downhill triumph of her sister Dominique in Sochi won Olympic gold in the alpine combination in Pyeongchang

After downhill and slalom, the 24-year-old vice world champion won by 97 hundredths of a second ahead of giant slalom champion Mikaela Shiffrin from the USA, who once again missed her third Olympic gold medal after finishing fourth in the slalom.

Bronze went to world champion Wendy Holdener from Switzerland, who was 1.44 seconds behind Gisin. Speed-Queen Lindsey Vonn from the USA, who had been leading in her last Olympic competition after the downhill, dropped out in the slalom.

A German runner was not at the start in the last combination at the Olympic Games. In Beijing 2022 the alpine duel will be replaced by a parallel race.
