Golf: Kaymer has to give up injured in Palm Springs

Former world number one Martin Kaymer (Mettmann) had to give up after the first round at the US golf tournament in Palm Springs.

According to the 33-year-old from Mettmann, he suffered an injury to his right wrist. Previously, he had played a round of 75 on the Par-70 course.

Superstar Tiger Woods (USA) started his third tournament after his long injury break with a solid 70. Last week, the Pacific Palisades in California failed at the cut. Alex Noren from Sweden and Webb Simpson from the United States lead with 66 strokes each.

The German pros Alex Cejka and Stephan Jäger (both Munich) started with 74 and 79 strokes respectively.
