The NBA has responded to the incidents involving Dallas Mavericks, where several female staff members have complained about the sexual misconduct of the former president. The commissioner now wants to set up an emergency hotline.

In a statement sent to all 30 NBA teams, Adam Silver announced the establishment of the emergency phone. It should serve to give all employees within the league the opportunity to work in a safe environment.

According to Silver, the number will be released next week.

This was triggered by a report from Sports Illustrated, which provides a detailed account of how the former Mavs CEO and president Terdema Ussery, who worked for Mavericks for 18 years until 2015, behaved within the organisation. He allegedly harassed several employees. All in all, the atmosphere within the franchise was “poisoned”.

Dirk Nowitzki was “disgusted”by the accusations. He said he was shocked that “such things happened in our franchise, in my franchise.”
