For the deadline, Isaiah Thomas was traded surprisingly by the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers after he had only played 15 games for the Cavs. IT has now discussed the exchange with ESPN. Cleveland welcomes the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday (from 9.30 pm at the LIVESTREAM FOR FREE).
“I didn’t think they’d pull the trigger so fast after 15 games,”says Thomas.”But it’s a business. And the cavs were in panic mode. We’ve lost – quite a lot. They thought they had to make a move – and then they turned the whole squad to the left.”
Thomas was arrested on 15. February as well as Jae Crowder, Iman Shumpert, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose and Channing Frye. The Cavs had only won seven of the 15 games Thomas played in the lineup,”It was a difficult situation,” Thomas explained. I had to get used to a new team in the middle of the season.”
It was not until the summer of 2017 that Thomas came from Boston by trade, where he had scored an average of almost 29 points last season. The Cavs were only 14.7,”We had eight or nine new players. So everything was brand-new… A new system, new team, new coach, new players. And I had to wait seven months for that. So of course I didn’t have my timing yet, I have to get it back individually.
But Thomas doesn’t associate negative emotions with the cavs:”It just didn’t work out,” explained IT.”It can happen,” Now he’s looking forward to playing a good rest of the season at the Lakers, and hopefully I’ll be here for a long time,”Thomas said.
