NBA: After racist remarks against Mills: Cavs initiate proceedings

Following a fan’s racist comments, the Cleveland Cavaliers have launched a reconnaissance procedure. Last Sunday, Patty Mills was denigrated in the game between the Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs.

“Jamaica called. They want their bobsleigh athletes back,”the fan exclaimed when Mills stood at the free-throw line. A video was posted on Twitter where the calls were clearly heard.

Mills was born in Australia and has no family connection to Jamaica. During the game Mills ignored the testimony, after that he thanked the fan who posted the video via Twitter. According to Cleveland. com and ESPN, the Cavaliers have initiated a procedure to identify the calling fan.

During the Black History Month, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich emphasised the importance of the fight against racism:”We live in a racist country that has not yet solved this problem. It is important to draw attention to this, even if it upsets many people,”Popovich told ESPN.
