Tobias Rieder has celebrated his first victory with the Los Angeles Kings.
The wing forward, who had suffered two defeats after switching from the Arizona Coyotes to the 2012 and 2014 Stanley Cup winners, beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 after extra time. With 73 points, the Californians occupy a wildcard position in the NHL for the playoffs in the West.
National goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer, on the other hand, suffered a clear defeat with the Washington Capitals. Despite Grubauer’s strong performance, the team around the Russian superstar Alexander Ovetschkin lost 5-1 at the Columbus Blue Jackets. Grubauer was replaced for the unlucky Braden Holtby in the first period at a score of 1:4 and resisted all 18 shots on his goal. Despite the defeat, the capital (77 points) in the east still occupies a play-off position.
