Winter sports: figure skating star Hanyu targets four-time Axel

Figure skating superstar Yuzuru Hanyu has already set himself the next high goals after his Olympic victory in Pyeongchang. As the 23-year-old Japanese said on Tuesday, he wants to be the first athlete to compete against a four-time Axel. This is his “dream”. The oldest of the six basic jumps has so far only been jumped in up to three and a half turns.

However, this is not yet the limit for Hanyu. There are studies that show that a man has the potential to do so.”

With his Olympic victory in South Korea, Hanyu was the first single runner since the US legend Dick Button (1948 and 1952), who won the gold medal at the Olympic Games twice in a row. It was only in Pyeongchang that the Japanese man made his comeback after suffering an ankle ligament injury in November.

To be honest, if I compare the situation with my ankle today with the worst time of the day, the pain has only improved by 20 to 30 percent,”he said,” but I managed to win the gold medal by using painkillers,”he said.
