Handball: EHF-Cup: Göppingen continues marching towards quarter-finals

Defending champion Frisch Auf Göppingen continues his unstoppable march towards the quarter-finals in the group stage of the EHF Cup.

Coach Rolf Brack’s team celebrated their fourth win in the fourth game on Wednesday evening with a 33-27 (13-12) win over Riihimäki Cocks. Five days earlier, the first German European Cup winner had already won 31:20 in the still-winning Finnish championship.

With 8:0 points Frisch Auf Göppingen leads the table of Group C confidently. This is followed by the next opponent RK Nexe from Croatia (4:2) and the Slovenian representative RD Koper (2:4), both of whom could also reach eight points. The two best teams from each group reach the quarter-finals.

In contrast to the first duel, the Göppingen team had a hard time against the Finns at first and were even three goals behind in the first half. But little by little the Swabians took control and turned the game around. Jacob Bagersted (6) and Marcel Schiller (5) were the best casters at Frisch Auf.
