MLB: Tim Lincecum signs major league contract with Texas Rangers

Tim Lincecum is back in the MLB! The pitcher reached an agreement with the Texas Rangers on a major league contract for the 2018 season. Lincecum has not been active in the Big Leagues since 2016.

Lincecum made his last appearance in 2016 in the jersey of the Los Angeles Angels. In only nine starts he was 2-6 with a 9.16 ERA and was released afterwards.

However,”The Freak” became famous at the San Francisco Giants, with which he won the National League Cy Young Award in 2008 and 2009. He was voted four times into the All-Star-Team of the NL and won the World Series three times.

In the later years in San Francisco, however, the speed of his fastball, which once stood at 95 miles per hour, slowed noticeably. This was also due to numerous injuries.

Another career highlight for Lincecum was his no-hitters in 2013 and 2014 against the San Diego Padres. In 2015, however, he only made 15 starts for San Francisco and then went to the Angels.

In the last few weeks he was pitching in front of several teams during a tryout and in the last few days he was offered a major league contract by the Los Angeles Dodgers in addition to the Rangers.
