Ice hockey: Job in the NHL?

National ice hockey coach Marco Sturm has reaffirmed his interest in a job at the NHL:”Why not? I’m still young, have many years ahead of me. It’s my goal,”said the 39-year-old on Thursday at Sky Sport News HD:”I don’t have to be the head coach. Just work for some crew.”

Sturm, who won silver with the German national team at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang last Sunday, had already expressed his interest in employment overseas. At the moment, however, this is not an issue for the German Ice Hockey Association due to his contract until 2022. Sturm has been in charge of the DEB selection since 2015.

Sturm, who had played more than 1000 NHL games as a player, cannot imagine a double role as national coach and NHL coach,”The NHL is a different league. Not only in the playful area. That’s why such a thing is absolutely impossible. You are busy there every day and under pressure,”said Sturm.
