Winter sports: Olympic figure skating champion Savchenko and Massot are “Sportsmen of the Month”.

After their world record-breaking freestyle competition in Pyeongchang, the Olympic figure skating champions Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot were voted “Sportsmen of the Month” in February by top German athletes.

This was announced by the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe on Thursday. The duo won with 43.6 percent against biathlete Laura Dahlmeier (38.7) and the Olympic Bobsleigh Champions Francesco Friedrich and Thorsten Margis (17.7).

Savchenko and Massot have been playing together as a pair of figure skating since 2014 and have celebrated their greatest success at the Olympic Games in South Korea. It was the first German Olympic victory in pair running in 66 years.
