MLB: Lind signs Minor League contract with New York Yankees

The New York Yankees have reached an agreement with Adam Lind on a Minor League contract including an invitation to show jumping training. The First Baseman and Outfielder is considered to be insurance in the event of an injury to a member’s strength.

In 2017, Lind. 303/. 362/. 513 defeated Lind. 303/. 362/. 513 with 14 home runs and 59 RBI in 116 games for the Washington Nationals and already at that time was mainly used as a backup and pinch hitter.

“It’s a great opportunity,”said Lind about the deal:”I know we’ve been talking to them about the past few years. I think it was the right situation for me this year.”

The Yankees watched Lind in training at the free agent camp at the IMG Academy in Bradenton/Florida, where Lind had worked for eight days.

General Manager Brian Cashman explained that the deal has an exit clause at the end of the jumping practice,”It’s an insurance policy. He comes in and then he’s one of the alternatives behind First Baseman Greg Bird. We’ll see what he can do. He will obviously get the chance to prove his worth elsewhere, but he is clearly an insurance policy in the event of injuries that fortunately haven’t happened yet,” said Tyler Austin and Billy McKinney, who were the first candidates for the backup spot at first base.

Lind has been playing in the MLB for twelve years and beat. 272/. 330/. 465 in his career, including 200 homeruns and 723 RBI in 1344 games for the Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Seahawks and Nationals.
