Handball: EHF-Cup: Magdeburg takes a big step towards the Final Four

The handball players of SC Magdeburg have made a big step in the EHF-Cup towards the final four tournament in their own hall.

Bennet Wiegert’s team won 36:24 (22:12) against Tatran Presov from Slovakia and celebrated their fourth win in the group stage in the fourth game.

Already two matchdays before the end of the group stage, the previous year’s third-placed third with eight points cannot be replaced by one of the first two places in Group A, which will be eligible for the quarter-finals.

As host of the Final Four tournament (19. until 20. May) Magdeburg would have already been automatically qualified for the final round of the best four teams if Magdeburg won the group or as one of the three best runners-up.

The foxes Berlin also set the course for the quarter-finals. The last year’s finalist clearly won 34:23 (17:10) against Helvetia Anaitasuna. The capitals have already secured second place in Group B thanks to the direct comparison they won against the Spaniards.
