According to media reports, Mitch Kupchak, former General Manager of Los Angeles Lakers, could take over the GM post at the Charlotte Hornets. But he’s not the only candidate.
The GM’s position in Charlotte is vacant after Rich Cho’s contract has not been renewed. According to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the franchise has now obtained permission to negotiate with several candidates.
One of them is Mitch Kupchak, who continues to be the favorite on the post. Kupchak was longtime GM of the Lakers and as such was responsible for the 5 Championships of Los Angeles’ in this millennium. Last year, however, he was released from his duties and replaced by Rob Pelinka.
In addition to Kupchak, the Hornets Wojnarowski also wants to negotiate with three other candidates: Marc Eversley (President of Player Affairs for the Sixers), Gersson Rosas (Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Rockets) and Adam Simon (Assistant General Manager for the Heat).
Currently Assistant-GM Buzz Peterson regulates the daily business of the Hornets since Cho has been dropped.
