NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers: Le`Veon Bell receives Franchise Day

The Pittsburgh Steelers have provided Le’ Veon Bell with the franchise day as expected. The Running Back will play for the second time in a row this coming season under the day. This is reported by NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

The Steelers and Bell were unable to agree on a long-term contract after Bell’s claims fell below the annual salary that Pittsburgh would have to pay him for another year under the day. Bell will thus receive 14.5 million dollars in the coming year.

“We couldn’t agree on a number,”Bell told ESPN on Monday,”I demand no less than what I’m worth to this team. That’s all I ask.”

Bell mentioned in January that he would consider suspending the coming season if the Steelers wanted to let him play under the franchise day again. We now have until July to agree on a long-term contract.
