MLB: Oakland A’s dismissed surprisingly Designated Hitter Brandon Moss

In a surprising move, the Oakland Athletics Designated Hitter released Brandon Moss. The A’s had only signed the player in January by trade from the Kansas City Royals.

Moss was 4-10 with two walks in four games in jumping training for the A’s, which took him through trade on 29. January of the Kansas City Royals. The move came after Oakland acquired left-hander Jairo Labourt of Waiver Wire from the Cincinnati Reds.

In general, this move seems curious, as Moss is still entitled to a guaranteed $7.25 million this year and a buyout of $1 million for his club option for 2019. Moss came to the Bay Area with left-hander Ryan Buchter in exchange for the right-handers Jesse Hahn and Heath Fillmyer. The Royals also contributed $3.25 million in cash.

If a team now hires Moss as a Free Agent, it would only have to pay the league minimum of 545,000 dollars, the A’s would be responsible for the remaining salary.

Moss beat. 207 with 22 home runs and 50 RBI in 118 games for the Royals in 2017. In his career, he beat 160 home runs in eleven years with a. 237 average and 473 RBI. He was active for the Red Sox, Pirates, Phillies, A’s, Indians, Cardinals and Royals.
