NFL: Seahawks trades defensive Lineman Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles

The Seattle Seahawks have traded defensive Lineman Michael Bennett and a 7th round pick against a 5th round pick and a player to the Philadelphia Eagles. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday evening.

According to ESPN, Wide Receiver Marcus Johnson is said to be the player who will join the Seahawks in return.

For Bennett, this marks the end of a five-year engagement in Seattle. For the defensive end it was no surprise. Already at the beginning of the year he had said to the News Tribune:”I probably won’t be here next year. I think they’ll be betting on a team of younger players in the future. That’s part of it.”

Despite his 32 years of age, Bennett still had 8.5 sacks last season, making him attractive for the Eagles.

Trade saves the Seahawks money. Bennett would have paid $8.4 million in 2018 and on 18 December 2010 would have been $8.4 million. We earned a bonus of $3 million on March 1.

For the Seahawks, the trade is a further step towards rebooting after the team missed the playoffs for the first time in six years. The Seahawks wanted to get rid of Bennett in order to get more peace into the team.

The Eagles had a good defensive last season, but it became clear that they wanted to sign up for a new Rusher pass. Instead of waiting for the draft, they decided to attack Bennett.
