Olympic Games 2018: Paralympics: Another Russian woman is allowed to start – surprise at the DBS

The German Disabled Sports Association (Deutscher Behindertensportverband) has reacted with incomprehension to the short-term approval of Russian cross-country skier and biathlete Michalina Lysowa for the Paralympics in Pyeongchang.

According to the DBS, the three-time Paralympics winner from Sochi is suspected of manipulation. Her name appeared in the McLaren report, and four doping samples of the 25-year-olds also showed scratches.

The IPC had suspended Russia after the doping scandal, but unlike Rio, it initially allowed 30 athletes to participate in Pyeongchang as neutral athletes. This statement does not fit for us,”said Rombach.

Following the scandal, Russia has still not fulfilled two key criteria: the complete resumption of the Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA by the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA and official recognition of the McLaren report, which certifies that Russia has an institutionalised doping system.
