MLB: Astros renews contracts of Correa and Bregman

Houston Astros have signed the contracts with Carlos Correa and Alex Bregman for the 2018 season. Both receive moderate salary increases.

Both players are still under team control and are not eligible for salary arbitration, so the team is free to decide how high the salary of such players is.

Accordingly, Star-Shortstop Correa, the first-overall pick of the 2012 drafts, will receive a million dollars in 2018, compared to 535,000 dollars in the previous year. Bregman, his trademark second pick totaling in 2015 draft, earned $599,000 this season.

For Correa, who is already one of the best short-stops at MLB, it is the last pre-arbitration year, so he can look forward to an extreme increase in his earnings starting next season. Third Baseman Bregman will have to wait another year more.

Both of them, on the other hand, played a major role in last year’s World Series win for Houston Astros.
