Ski jumper Richard Freitag has got a strong start into the “Raw Air”tour in Norway. The 26-year-old from Aue took third place in the qualification for the individual World Cup in Oslo on Sunday (14.20 hrs/ZDF and Eurosport). On Friday, the Holmenkollen jumped up to 130.0 m, first place in the overall standings was taken by the Polish Olympic champion Kamil Stoch with 131.0 m. Andreas Wellinger (Ruhpolding), Olympic champion on the normal hill, finished seventh with 126.0 m. The other five DSV eagles will also be taking part on Sunday: Markus Eisenbichler (Siegsdorf/124.0), Constantin Schmid (Oberaudorf/123.5), Stephan Leyhe (Willingen/121.5), Karl Geiger (Oberstdorf/120.5) and Andreas Wank (Hinterzarten/121.5) all finished in the top 30.
On Saturday at 5 p. m. a team competition is scheduled in Oslo, with the scores of each jumper also being included in the overall ranking.
The “Raw Air”-tour with the further stops Lillehammer, Trondheim and Vikersund takes place for the second time, within ten days six World Cup-jumping are on the agenda. Whoever collects the most points including the qualification in 16 jumps will receive a bonus of 60,000 euros. Last year Wellinger had been leading in Vikersund before the last jump, but then fell behind winner Stefan Kraft (Austria) and Kamil Stoch from Poland.
