Although his head coach Brad Stevens ruled out a comeback for Gordon Hayward this season, he remains optimistic. The rehab is going well and he still has hope to help his team in time.
“I’m thinking from day to day at the moment,” Hayward said on Friday during a public event. But the rehab is going well, I’m making a lot of progress. I’m training today and I’ll be training tomorrow. And it will remain my goal for the time being to think from day to day.”
A comeback this season is not yet off the table for him:”There is still hope. Even though, to be honest, I don’t think about it that much. I know, of course, that the season is coming to an end and there’s not much time left. And if it’s not enough for this season, then so be it.”
The 27-year-old explained that he could already burden the affected leg with 70 percent of his body weight in an anti-gravity treadmill. As soon as he reaches 80 percent, he expects to be able to run without restriction under “normal circumstances”. He could also make small jumps.
