Handball: Women from Bietigheim bid farewell to Champions League with success

The German women’s handball champion SG BBM Bietigheim has left the Champions League with a prestigious success. The team of coach Martin Albertsen defeated FTC Budapest 27:23 (16:11) and finished the main round with four points but still finished last.

Meanwhile, Thüringer HC, the Bundesliga front runner with equal points, was defeated by Metz HB 29:35 (19:17), but nevertheless remained in fifth place ahead of Bietigheim. Both teams had no chance of making it to the quarter-finals before the final matchday.
