MLB: White Sox: Prospect Luis Robert fails for ten weeks

Job’s message for the Chicago White Sox: top prospect Luis Robert has suffered a ligament injury to his left thumb and will probably be out for ten weeks.

The White Sox announced on Saturday that the outfielder will wear a cast for six weeks. The Cuban contracted the injury on Wednesday when he slipped headfirst into second base. This happened in the jumping practice game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Robert had received a signing bonus of $26 million last year and was considered one of the 50 best prospects in baseball. It was planned that he would start the season in Single-A.

Last season, Robert played for Chicago’s team in the Dominican Summer League and beat in 28 games. 310 and also made a few White Sox appearances in this year’s jumping practice. He had his first start on Wednesday and promptly beat a Grand Slam.
