NBA: Rick Carlisle on another season for Dirk Nowitzki:”Looks promising!”

Dirk Nowitzki will most likely remain with the Dallas Mavericks in the coming season. Head coach Rick Carlisle indicated this to ESPN.

“It looks very promising that he will play for another year,”Carlisle explained according to Tim McMahon. Nowitzki’s contract in Dallas expires in the summer of 2019.

Nowitzki himself had told Basket magazine that he was expecting another season with the Mavs:”So far I haven’t suspended a game this season. That’s why I’m assuming that I’ll play again next season”, however, I’ll limit myself to:”I’m going to finish the season now. And then I will join the family and Holger (private trainer and mentor Holger Geschwindner, d. Red.) and listen to my body to see if I can do it again.”

The 39-year-old had also been disappointed by the poor performance of his team:”Of course, losing so often takes away a lot of fun,”Nowitzki says. The Mavericks have only won 21 of their 66 games this season and will miss the playoffs for the second time in a row.
