At another flight show of “King” Kamil Stoch the German show jumpers Andreas Wellinger and Richard Freitag gave a disappointing performance. Olympic champion Wellinger only finished 22nd in the qualification for the World Cup jumping on Tuesday in the Norwegian Olympic city of Lillehammer, the overall World Cup runner-up Friday was 19th.
Lillehammer is the second station of the “Raw-Air”series, and the chances of winning the overall win worth 60,000 euros have practically already lost Wellinger and Friday after the show on Monday evening. The triumph is probably only about the Polish dominator Kamil Stoch. The double Olympic gold medallist of Sochi and winner on the big hill in Pyeongchang outstripped him with a set of 139.5 meters and thus extended his lead in the overall standings.
Here Stoch is clearly ahead of the Norwegian Robert Johansson (811.6) with 835.1 points after six of a total of 16 jumps. Third is his compatriot Johann Andre Forfang (787.5).
For the jumping on Tuesday, the other five German jumpers qualified alongside Wellinger and Freitag. The eleventh best was Karl Geiger from Oberstdorf with 128 m. Also among the top 50 at the end were David Siegel (125.5), Markus Eisenbichler (123), Stephan Leyhe (124.5) and Andreas Wank (123).
The “Raw Air”-tour with the other stops Trondheim and Vikersund takes place for the second time, within ten days six World Cup-jumping are on the agenda. Last year Wellinger had been leading in Vikersund before the last jump, but fell behind winner Stefan Kraft (Austria) and Kamil Stoch.
