Professional boxer Jürgen Brähmer (Schwerin) wants to fight his way to the final in the multi-million dollar Muhammad Ali Trophy at the green table. As the 39-year-old super-middleweighter of the Märkische Oderzeitung said, he even wants to take legal action in order to be able to make a final decision on 2 December. In the final of the Ali Trophy against the British Callum Smith in London on 30 June.
“I strongly assume I’m going to fight. I’ve already put my lawyer on the trail,”Brähmer said. The former world champion had been unable to compete in his semi-final match against Smith in February due to a viral disease and was replaced by the Dutchman Nickie Holzken, who was clearly defeated by Smith on points.
Smith is actually expected to fight his countryman Georg Groves in the final of the $50 million tournament. But double world champion Groves will probably not be able to keep the appointment because of a shoulder surgery. Recently, a postponement had been discussed. Meanwhile, Brähmer has his own plans:”I will prepare myself intensively for a fight against Smith,”he said.
