Ice hockey: Storm is planning with Draisaitl and colleagues at the World Championships:”The NHL boys are set”.

National coach Marco Sturm will be presented at the Ice Hockey World Championships from 4. until 20. The NHL is back in Denmark on May 1,”The NHL boys are set. I’m glad they’re ready to play for Germany,”said national coach Marco Sturm to the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, no NHL pros in the German team had stood, who sensationally won the silver medal. The other teams also had to give up the overseas players because the NHL had not turned off their pros.

In Denmark, the Germans’ hopes could rest on striker Leon Draisaitl. The 22-year-old young star is likely to miss the North American play-offs with the Edmonton Oilers.

With a view to his own future in the NHL, Sturm continues to keep all his options open:”I have not yet received an official offer from the NHL,”said the 39-year-old, who has played over 1000 NHL games as a player:”If I can ever work in the best league in the world, then I will do it. That’s my target. But when is that? At the moment, I’m assuming I’ll stay national coach.”

Storm’s contract with the DEB runs until 2022.
