The Boston Celtics are currently worried about the knee of superstar Kyrie Irving. General Manager Danny Ainge believes that sooner or later Uncle Drew will have to go under the knife.
Compared to 98.5 The Sports Hub, Ainge said: “He will probably have to undergo surgery. Maybe it won’t be this summer, but maybe the one on it. I think the surgery can take place any time he wants.”
At the moment, however, according to Ainge, he believes that surgery on Irving’s knee, in which he suffers from tendinitis, is not acutely necessary. Irving is currently suspended – but this is supposed to be a precautionary measure and one can assume that he will return to the court by the time of the playoffs at the latest.
Ainge was aware of the risk when the Celtics traded for Irving last summer: “That was already a big topic. Kyrie’s had a more serious knee injury once. So we knew there could be complications here and there. But his long-term prognosis is good and we knew that he is probably nobody who plays the full 82 games every season”.
